Coaches

Carnegie Lake Rowing Association is fortunate to have several experienced coaches to call upon throughout the year. Some are University coaches, some are from the community and have extensive coaching and rowing experience.

Maddie Davis is coaching at the Hun School. She is from Philadelphia and rowed at Princeton where she was Captain of the 2009 lightweight team.

Taliet Gerretsen is an Assistant Coach with the Princeton Lightweight Women. She is from Corning, New York and rowed at Princeton with the lightweight team.

Kristin Haraldsdottir is an Assistant Coach with the Princeton Open Women. She is from Iceland and Rochester, Minnesota and rowed at Princeton where she was Captain of the 2008 open team.

Mike Lombardi

Glenn Ochal is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and began rowing at Roman Catholic High School and Crescent Boat Club in 2001. Glenn has a fine understanding of sculling, for both the Roman and Crescent crews were entirely scullers; it was not until the fall of 2004 at Princeton did Glenn begin to sweep row . During his time at Princeton, Glenn rowed in the Varsity for three years with the pinnacle of his success being an Eastern Sprints Championship  in the spring of 2006 and capturing the Ladies Challenge Plate at the Royal Henley Regatta in the summer of 2006. In addition to racing for Princeton, Glenn has also raced for the United States at the 2005&2007 World Under 23 Rowing Championships. Glenn currently trains with the United States National Team and is an assistant coach on the Mens Heavyweight team at Princeton University.

Tom Paulette is training with the National Team and is an Assistant Coach with the Princeton Men. He is from Cleveland and rowed at Princeton were he was Captain of the 2009 undefeated lightweight team.

Matt Rung

Max Schumitsch is from Decatur, Alabama and began rowing as a walk on at the University of Wisconsin, Madsion.  Received a bronze medal in the 2006 IRA championship in the Open 4 with coxswain, and placed 4th in 2007 in the 4 without coxswain.  Received 2nd place at the Head of the Charles in 2007 in the club eight event.  He was an assistant volunteer coach for the 2007-2008 season at the UW and was an assistant coach for their summer program.  Currently, an intern coach to Greg Hughes with the Men's Lightweight team.

Jim Washburn rowed for four years at the Lawrenceville School and captained the crew for his last two years, stroking the senior four to the school’s first appearance at the Scholastic National Championships. At Trinity College, he stroked the freshman heavyweight eight to a silver medal, and a gold medal at the New England Rowing Championships in the varsity heavyweight eight.  After two years of teaching and coaching at Tabor Academy, Jim taught and coached varsity boys crews at Lawrenceville for six years.  This is the twelfth summer Jim is coaching at Craftsbury Sculling Center and his second with the Lakers.  Off the water, Jim teaches history and government at Montgomery High School.
