Head of the Charles Laker Results

Congratulations to all the Carnegie Lake Rowers who participated in the Head of the Charles 2021!

There were ups and downs but everyone got to experience the river in unforgettable ways.

On Friday morning Barbara Hogan (competing under Vesper), Jan Stone (competing under Pocock), Diane Lantz-Hecker, and Zoe Brookes launched for the 1x event (70+, and 50 + 60+).

Jan came in with a time of 27:36 and Barbara won gold with a time of 25:36. Congrats!!!

Zoe and Diane participated in their first ever single race at the Charles and had a great race with a time of 24:54 and 25:34, respectively.

On Saturday morning Allison Mueller, (1x), the Men 4+ (50+, John Castonguay, Michael Jones, Mike Lyons, Austin Chen, and cox Rob Colburn), the Women 8+ (50+, competing under FILO, Alison Pollini, Katie Samsel, Veronique Oomen, Sandra Fisher, Kelly Mooji, Nancy Paquette, Rose Ford, Susan Weinstein, and cox Elisabeth Zimmer ), and Margery Mark (W4+ 70+, under Chinook) competed.

Allison had a very good race coming in with a time of 22:55.

The women 8+ had an impressive row coming in 8th out of 28 teams with a time of 19:13

The men 4+ had an equipment issue and had to abandon the race 2 miles in. Until then, they were rowing really well and coming together. It was a big disappointment for all. Rob was able to bring the boat to the dock safely and without interfering with any boat. This in itself is an achievement and could not have been done without an experienced coxswain and strong cooperation from the rowers.

Margery won gold with a time of 24:27. Congrats!!

On Saturday afternoon our own coaches Anna and Jamie competed in the PU Women and Men Alumni 8, respectively. Anna's boat took gold with a time of 16:49 while Jamie's boat came in 2nd with a time of 14:48. Congrats!!

On Sunday, a few of our members participated in the director's challenge. Austin Clayton was in a PU alumni quad and had a good race with a time of 19:33 while Bill Flynn and his son Joe participated in the father/son event coming in with a great time of 21:27

Again, congratulations to all participants and winners! On to next year!
